‘Explaining Inflation after the Pandemic’ with Adam Shapiro, Vice President, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco

Date: Thursday, June 29

Time: 12pm to 1pm ET

Inflation surged after the pandemic in the US and elsewhere, peaking far above levels most economists and investors predicted. As a Vice President in the Economic Research Department at the San Francisco Fed, Adam Shapiro’s work identifying the various factors contributing to that surge has garnered widespread media and policymaker attention. Headline inflation has been moderating, but concerns remain about the stickiness of inflation’s core components. Gaining a better handle on these inflationary dynamics is critical to understanding where the economy is likely headed from here.
