The agency’s chief economist, Dr. Seth Meyer, will provide data driven analysis on the relevant market outlook, economic impact of current policies and global trends, and the role new priorities such as biofuels and cap and trade proposals may have. About our speaker: Dr. Seth Meyer was appointed USDA’s Chief Economist in January of 2020, returning to the agency where he previously served as head of the World Agricultural Outlook Board (WAOB) in the Office of the Chief Economist (OCE). Directly prior to his return, Dr. Meyer was a Research Professor and the Associate Director for the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute (FAPRI) at the University of Missouri. Previously, Dr. Meyer served as an economist with the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and as a visiting scholar at several research institutions around the world. Dr. Meyer grew up in eastern Iowa and has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Iowa State University and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Missouri.
