About our speaker: Dr. Mary E. Lovely is a Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute and Professor of Economics and Melvin A. Eggers Faculty Scholar at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Her academic work focuses on the effects of China’s reform and opening on its firms and workers and on the global economy. At the Peterson Institute, she writes about trade policy, global value chains, and foreign direct investment. She has published essays and opinion pieces in the New York Times, the Financial Times, CNN.com, and the Milken Review. She has been quoted in the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, NPR, Marketplace, Bloomberg, Politico, Axios, and various international publications.
