9/22/22 NEC Webinar ‘The United States vs China: The Quest for Global Economic Leadership’ with Fred Bergsten, PIIE
September 22, 2022 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
‘The United States vs China: The Quest for Global Economic Leadership’ with Fred Bergsten, Nonresident Senior Fellow and Director Emeritus, Peterson Institute for International Economics
Date: Thursday, September 22
Time: 12pm to 1pm EST
Dr. Bergsten will discuss how to minimize conflict between the two economic superpowers and maintain (restore?) effective leadership and thus stability for the international economic order. Dr. Bergsten rejects containment strategies as infeasible and advocates functional decoupling between economic and other issues in the bilateral relationship, recognizing both the inevitability of disagreement on many security and political matters as well as the pragmatic necessity of working together on climate, pandemics, financial crises, the trading system and other economic topics.
Please Note: The link to the webinar will come in the ticket email. If you do not receive a ticket email or the event link by 11am the day of the event, please contact the NEC for that or any other questions at manager@national-economists.org.
