NEC Luncheon ‘The Economics of Discrimination in Public Accommodations’ with Dr. Trevon D. Logan, Distinguished Professor of Economics, The Ohio State University

While economists have produced a large amount of research on discrimination in hiring and housing, we know little about public accommodations discrimination.  How did businesses respond to their customers’ desire to discriminate?   Using new archival data, Dr. Logan will outline some of the basic facts of public accommodations discrimination in the United States.

About our Speaker:

Trevon D. Logan is an economist who specializes in economic   history and  applied demography. His work focuses on the intersection between health economics, applied econometrics, applied microeconomics and sociology.

In addition to being the Hazel C. Youngberg Distinguished Professor of Economics at The Ohio State University, he is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and an affiliate of the Initiative in Population Research, the Center for Human Resource Research, the Food Innovation Center, and the Criminal Justice Research Center at Ohio State.  He currently serves on the editorial boards of Explorations in Economic History, Historical Methods and Demographic Research. 

Dr. Logan received his PhD in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
