NEC Webinar, ‘Student Loan Delinquencies Are Back, and Credit Scores Take a Tumble’ with Daniel Mangrum, Research Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York

After a five-year hiatus, negative credit reporting for past due federal student loan payments has returned. Daniel Mangrum, a research economist for the New York Fed, will discuss recent work on how many student loan borrowers are past due, how they differ from the pool of delinquent borrowers before the pandemic, and what it might mean for past due borrowers and other credit products.

About our Speaker:

Daniel Mangrum studies topics surrounding consumer finance and household debt for the New York Fed. He earned a PhD in Economics from Vanderbilt University in 2020 and joined the Bank shortly after. His research has explored financial education and financial literacy, student loans and financial aid, Buy Now Pay Later, and topics in urban economics.
