‘The Truth About Government Debt’ with Richard Vague

Date: Thursday, October 5th

Time: 12pm to 1pm ET

During the three years of the pandemic, from 2020 through 2022, federal government debt increased by $6 trillion. In stark contrast, in that same period, household wealth increased by a staggering $30 trillion. What caused that increase? This webinar will explore the crucial links between debt, wealth, economic growth, and inequality.

Please Note: The link to the webinar will come in the ticket email. If you do not receive a ticket email or the event link by 11am the day of the event, please contact the NEC for that or any other questions at manager@national-economists.org.

About our speaker:

Richard Vague served most recently as Secretary of Banking and Securities for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As the author of The Paradox of Debt (2023), The Case for a Debt Jubilee (2021), A Brief History of Doom (2019), and The Next Economic Disaster (2014), Vague has established himself as a clear and independent voice in the ongoing conversation about the role of private sector debt in the global economy.
