‘Can Sanctions Derail Putin’s War in Ukraine?’ with Jeffrey Schott, Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE)

Jeffrey Schott, Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, will assess what has been done to date, why Putin ignored the threats of severe sanctions, and why China will not bail out Russia.

About our speaker:

Jeffrey J. Schott joined the Peterson Institute for International Economics in 1983 and is a senior fellow working on international trade policy and economic sanctions. During his tenure at the Institute, Schott has also held positions at Princeton University, Georgetown University, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, US Treasury Department, and US State Department.

Schott is the author, coauthor, or editor of numerous books on trade, including Trans-Pacific Partnership: An Assessment (2016), Local Content Requirements: A Global Problem (2013), NAFTA and Climate Change (2011), as well as numerous articles on US trade policy and economic sanctions.

Schott holds a BA degree magna cum laude from Washington University, St. Louis (1971), and an MA degree with distinction in international relations from the School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University (1973). Learn more here.
