Shingo Nakazawa is Economic Counselor at the Embassy of Japan in Washington, D.C. — attached from the Cabinet Office of the Government of Japan. He joined the government as an economist in 1994. He has held various positions of economic research, forecasting and macroeconomic policy-making, including Director for Economic Policy Framework, when he was responsible for medium- and long-term fiscal consolidation issues.

He is also active in the international sphere on economic policy making, including being a member of the Permanent Delegation to the OECD (2004-2007). In the academic field, he is a visiting lecturer on the Japanese economy at Seijo University in Tokyo. He holds a Master degree in Economics from Columbia University and graduated from Hitotsubashi University.
